Beer Bar & Garden
When we started to build our bar we took some time to lean back and think about what we expect from a Brew Bar. We wanted it to be a place where everyone feels welcome. We wanted it to be a place for communication - where people meet and have a good time with friends in a safe environment. Where people meet and just enjoy themselves after a hard days work.
A great place to be.
Even before the recent law changes, we were the only non-smoking bar in Whangarei. Being a smoker myself we created a beer garden that is so inviting that (smoker or not) you can sit there and just enjoy life. You are welcome to smoke as much as you want outside. Inside is strictly non-smoking, because we store our malt in the same building and it would absorb the off-flavours from the smoke (Malt absorbs smells like a sponge).
There is nothing in our bar that distracts you from your conversation. The music is just in the background (don't you just hate it when you have to scream against music in other bars?) and selected to relax.
We are also not a "meat-market". A large percentage of our customers are women and we take special care so that they feel safe and secure, and are not being approached against their will.
You will not find a TV in our place. I think TV is destroying all communication, as you will always look to it, if you like what you see or not.
Pokey machines? Get lost! We have games (Chess, Rummicub, Jenga, Risk) and newspapers for everybody to use.
This sounds boring to you? Please leave our webpage NOW and don't come into our bar. You will be disappointed and we don't want to have you there. Although we welcome everybody the same way, we have to make sure that the customers we have feel good and come back to us. There is certainly not a lack of bars in Whangarei, so if we feel that somebody is annoying other people we will ask him to leave and never return. No matter who they are.
