Our Logo
If you're wondering what is the Logo about, let me enlighten you:
The Logo was designed by Steve Moase a very well known local artist and packaging designer. After long interviews with us, Steve understood what is important for us and created this beautiful artwork.
From the top to the bottom: BRAUHAUS FRINGS stands of course for Brewhouse Frings (after all German does not seem very difficult, or does it?) and the Brewhouse is traditionally the place, where you make the hot wort (the "beer"before it is cooled down and before fermentation - does not taste at all like beer, yet). The brewhouse is also considered the "hot heart"of the brewery and it is an honor to work there (although it is very hard work, too).
Frings is - as you certainly figuered already - my family name.
Embedded in the NZ flag and the German flag you will find in the upper left corner three waves (representing water), upper right corner the hop, lower left corner the malt (from barley) and lower right corner a hand. The hand stands for craftsmanship. The fourth ingredient for our beer is yeast, but it is impossible to represent this as any identifiable shape - consequently we've used the image of a hand. Basically, this is our list of ingredients.
In the center you will find a barrel with three protruding objects. This sign is the gilde sign of a University Brewmaster. You are only allowed to have it in your coat of arms, if you've passed a 3 year apprenticeship and 4 years of university. THEN (and not before) you can poudly call yourself a Brewmaster. In Bremen (Germany) where I was born the first brewer-gilde was been established in 1105. So we brewer (and Brewmaster) can trace our craft back quite some time and it still fills my heart with honor to be a member of this circle.
I think Steve Moase created an outstanding piece of art that brings all of this information and symbols into one logo, while still keeping it clear and to the point.
